Appeal to Aussie Teachers for Exchange Partner to Canada: PLEASE SHARE

Posted by on September 26, 2012

[edit: I realize this reads like a personals ad. My apologies.]

I am a grade 8 teacher of all subjects living with my wife and son on an acreage just outside Winnipeg, capital city of Manitoba in Canada. My school is in Winnipeg. A 20 minute commute takes us from our rural home to our urban workplace.

I’d like to exchange with a middle years teacher reasonably close to, or in an Australian city with accommodations for the three of us. We will consider any state in Australia.

Tapping the power of my PLN to find a 2014 teaching exchange partner to come to Canada.  I applied for an Australian exchange with my wife and 9 year old son through our government program last year but no suitable match was available. Our application is in the system again and we are optimistic that this year something will come up.

Optimism  is generally more fruitful with action, so we’re “beating the bushes” for potential partners. Perhaps you, or someone you know is ready for an adventure, a break from routine, a chance to explore and grow in another part of the world?

Read about other Aussie teachers and families that have exchanged to Canada. Talk it up with colleagues and check out your own state exchange program.

Please drop a line via e-mail or DM on twitter, or post a response here if you want to talk about what is involved or are just curious!

My Husband and I are interested in a teacher exchange for 2014. We have only just started looking at it now. We live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia and Ideally we would like to organize an exchange for Canada, BC or Colorado, but we will give any where consideration. My husband is a middle to senior (grades 8-12) high school maths and science teacher at an Anglican private school. He commutes around 30mins to work. He has also taught IELTS english in the past. We have two small children aged 6 & 4 and would love for them to experience a different country while they are young. We would love to hear from anyone who is either interested or has some information they think would be helpful. 🙂

I trust you have already started your application process – there are a few things to get together, and possible some school board approvals that may require some lead time. If you get information on Queensland’s exchange program, I’d appreciate if you could pass it along. I heard there may have been some changes to your program recently but I’ve not seen any verification of it.

I am currently unmatched for a 2014 exchange starting in either January or July. I live in New South Wales, approximately four and a half hours drive from Sydney or 45 minute flight. I am seeking an exchange anywhere in Canada.

I teach high school Maths Grades 7 – 12 so would preferably exchange with a Maths teacher. I am also trained in PE so an exchange for that subject is possible as my school would work with that.

I have a five bedroom house that I would be able to exchange.
